A Memorial to our Brothers
The Colorado Springs FACs in coordination with the Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) Association invite you to join us on Friday, 5 July 2013, in the morning at 1000, to honor the brave FACs and support personnel who have been killed in military actions since 1975. The new Memorial will be a granite pedestal listing all the names of the FACs and support personnel, from all military services, that have been killed in action since 1975. To date our research has identified the names of 8 Air Force FACs, Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs) and Combat Controllers that were killed in action in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In the afternoon, at 1500, the FAC Association will present and dedicate a Plaque to honor those airmen who served as FACs, ALOs, and their support personnel during the conflict in Southeast Asia from 1962 to 1975. The Plaque will be hung in the Southeast Asia Pavilion at the Air Force Academy. The dedication will include a special tribute to the 29 Academy graduates who so served and gave their last full measure of devotion. The ceremony will take place in the Atrium Room of Doolittle Hall (The Association of Graduates building) at the Air Force Academy. All FACs, ALOs, support personnel, family members and interested persons are invited to attend.
Doolittle Hall is located at:
3116 Academy Drive
USAF Academy, CO 80840-4475
Phone: (719) 472-0300
NOTE: The Air Force Academy is an active military base and requires DOD identification to enter. However, civilians are allowed on base between the hours of 8 AM and 6 PM by following these specific procedures:
From I-25, enter through the Academy North Gate. Turn left on Stadium Blvd (at the B-52). Take the second right turn, Academy Blvd, and proceed up the hill. Doolittle Hall will be on the right. There is plenty of parking. The Atrium Room is on the second floor of Doolittle Hall.
