The circled stars in the top 3 pictures indicate the approximate location of the 2008 FAC Memorial to be dedicated in October 2008. Memorial Park hosts such annual gatherings as the Colorado Springs Balloon Classic (90+ Hot-Air Balloons launch during the Labor Day Weekends) and the Annual Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial Observance each September. Names of the fallen are added to a wall very similar to the Vietnam Memorial Wall. On 21 September 2002 more than ten thousand people gathered in Memorial Park to honor 426 firefighters who had died in the line of duty since September 2000. The Military Section at Memorial Park is a fitting location for a memorial to honor our fallen brothers who died flying as FACs.
